When you start dog clicker training the choice of treat is quite important. You need to keep your dog's attention and their desire to learn new things.

This recipe for liver cake is so easy. Dogs love it and can’t get enough. If you have problems with your dog not coming back at the park… take liver cake.

This cake can be used as an alternative to the usual clicker training treats but not too often. It is so easy to make and can be frozen for later use. This liver cake can be baked in a normal cake tin of whatever shape you like. It even comes out looking like a nice fruit cake for humans. Smells a bit different though!

Ingredients:

  • 1lb Liver
  • 1lb Granary Flour
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic (optional)
  • Oil & Milk to bind

Method:

Liquidize the liver, eggs, milk, oil & garlic in a blender.

Add the flour and mix.

Microwave for 10 mins

Or cook in the oven for 45 mins.

This cake can be frozen. For best results, allow the cake to cool a little, then cut into pieces of the desired size. Divide the pieces into a number of freezer bags before placing into the freezer. Defrost before feeding to you dog.

When my finicky Lab won't eat anything else, he'll usually eat liver. Thanks for the great recipe for Liver Cake. Sounds like a winner.
